Reflecting on Another Successful 10,000 Scoop Challenge Season

March 6, 2018

As 2018 begins, the Moose Tracks team is busy preparing for another year of 10,000 Scoop Challenge events. Where will we head this year? The list is top secret for now; don’t worry – we’ll let you in on it in a few months!

What is the 10,000 Scoop Challenge?

It started as a crazy idea and has turned into the highlight of our summer. We identify certain cities each year and within those cities, we work with local Salvation Army chapters and our dairy partners across the country to bring communities a free Moose Tracks ice cream social! The goal is to give away 10,000 scoops of Moose Tracks ice cream. For every scoop we give away, we donate $1 to the local Salvation Army, with a goal of raising $10,000 for local programs. It’s a great opportunity for us to give back, both with a donation to the Salvation Army, and with a fun event and free ice cream for the community.

Let’s Look Back at the 2017 Season

We visited Pittsburgh, Detroit, Dallas, Greensboro, Charlotte, and Kansas City – oh my! Each event was unique and awesome. Here are some highlights from each Challenge:

June 21, 2017 – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

We were fortunate enough to hold the first 10,00 Scoop Challenge of the season at PPG Place, a shimmering glass complex and a crown jewel of the Pittsburgh skyline. The event was a huge success; people of all ages came out to enjoy a scoop of free Kemps Moose Tracks Frozen Yogurt on a hot and beautiful day!

June 28, 2017 – Detroit, Michigan

We love Detroit! This was our third challenge in the D and we were blown away this time. Detroiters represented their city by showing us the largest crowd we have ever seen at a 10,000 Scoop Challenge. Dean’s Moose Tracks Ice Cream was proudly scooped at Campus Martius Park in the heart of downtown Detroit.

 July 11, 2017 – Dallas, Texas

This was our first venture deep in the great state of Texas, and it was extra special for us because our beloved owners brought out their trusty scoops to serve the city of Dallas (pictured below).  The Mayfield Creamery Moose Tracks was flowin’ at Pegasus Plaza on this hot summer day!

July 24, 2017 – Greensboro, North Carolina

LeBauer Park was the perfect location for our event to cool off the city of Greensboro on a Monday! The Salvation Army of Greensboro was particularly enthusiastic and truly provided an army of volunteers. It’s a good thing, because Greensboro was ready for some free Mayfield Creamery Moose Tracks! Check out that long line of ice cream fanatics!

July 26, 2017 – Charlotte, North Carolina

Trade & Tryon proved to be the perfect place for a 10,000 Scoop Challenge. The city of Charlotte came out in full force! The highlight of our morning was an interview that Wilson conducted with Scottie Mayfield (of Mayfield Creamery fame!) and Major Broome from the Salvation Army. Watch it here for some laughs.

August 8, 2017 – Kansas City, Missouri

The Power & Light District was SO cool, and so were the participants in our 10,000 Scoop Challenge: Kansas City Edition. We set up in the heart of the Power & Light District and scooped up Hiland Moose Tracks for 4 glorious hours.
