Homemade Waffle Cones & Moose Tracks
6 Servings
If you’re not eating your ice cream with a waffle cone, you’re not doing it right! Okay, okay, Moose Tracks ice cream can taste great with anything. But all jokes aside, few things can beat a fresh, crisp, waffle cone. Here’s the best part: you can make waffle cones right at home! No more eating your Moose Tracks in a plain bowl. Jazz up your late-night craving with our simple waffle cone recipe below. The equipment required is a waffle cone maker, which is surprisingly affordable, easily purchased online, and will make you the hit of every party.
Instructions:
-
Preheat your waffle cone machine to a medium setting (around level 4). Lightly coat both cooking surfaces with a thin layer of oil using a brush.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg whites, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined. Add the salt and half of the flour, then beat until smooth. Stir in the melted butter and the remaining flour, mixing until the batter is uniform and free of lumps.
-
Drop 3 tablespoons of batter onto the center of the preheated waffle cone machine. Close the lid firmly and lock the latch securely. Cook for approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds, then check the color. Adjust cooking time if needed to achieve a golden-brown finish. Tip: Use the Moose Tracks “perfectly pint-sized scoop” to scoop the perfect amount of batter.
-
Gently lift the hot waffle from the machine using a wooden fork or mixing spoon and place it on a clean kitchen towel. Use the towel to help roll the waffle around your cone form, pinching the bottom of the cone to seal it. Hold the shape firmly for about 10 seconds to allow it to set.
-
Let cones cool completely. Then, scoop your favorite Moose Tracks flavor on top and enjoy!
-
Keep fresh by storing your cones in an airtight container.
