Salty Caramel Caribou Apple Tart
8 Servings
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 425ºF.
-
Line a half-sheet baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Slice the apples into thin pieces, about ¼” thick.
-
Place the apples into a large mixing bowl then add the lemon juice, vanilla extract and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.
-
Unfold the puff pastry sheet onto the lined baking sheet. Lightly score the dough by cutting a border 1 inch from the edges, but make sure you don’t cut through the dough completely.
-
Within the border, prick the dough all over with a fork.
-
Shake off any excess liquid from the apple slices then arrange them onto the puff pastry inside the border area.
-
Whisk together an egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the edges of the puff pastry with this egg wash.
-
Bake the tart for 15-17 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Remove the tart from the oven, drizzle it with caramel sauce and sprinkle it with sea salt. Cut and place each slice onto a plate and top with a scoop of Caramel Caribou before serving.
