10,000 Scoop Challenge 2023 Tour

June 5, 2023

Moose Tracks is back on the road this summer! We are visiting five cities to give back to the community through our 10,000 Scoop Challenge.

Moose Tracks is partnering with Mayfield Dairy Farms, Hershey’s Ice Cream, Kemps, and Country Fresh to bring FREE ice cream to five U.S. cities this summer. We like to call the 10,000 Scoop Challenge our delicious philanthropy, because for each scoop we hand out, we donate $1 to a local charity! Our goal is to hand out 10,000 free scoops and donate $10,000 in each community that we visit.

Check out our official announcement video below to see if we will be near you!

The 10,000 Scoop Challenge has been a summer tradition since 2010 where we have visited over 45 cities and raised over $450,000. This year, we will reach a major milestone—donating $500,000 to local charities. Click on the cities below to visit our Facebook event page links for more information.

This season, we achieved our first ever 13,000 Scoop Challenge in Minneapolis, due to the overwhelming support of our Moose Tracks fans. It’s always a privilege to scoop ice cream for our fans to benefit The Salvation Army.

In 2019, our 10,000 Scoop Challenge Tour visited the following cities:

  • Savannah, GA
  • Charleston, SC
  • Minneapolis, MN

$33,000 was raised this summer to fund local community programs and initiatives – just by fans like YOU eating FREE Moose Tracks Ice Cream! To date, we have raised $423,000!

We travel across the U.S. handing out scoops of FREE Moose Tracks Ice Cream to raise money for The Salvation Army. One scoop = $1 donated to the organization. Our First Ever 13,000 Scoop Challenge!

June 19, 2019

Minneapolis was all in for Moose Tracks! We had an amazing time meeting thousands of ice cream fanatics in Minneapolis and boy, did they know how to turn out for a city-wide ice cream social. We put our scooping arms to the test and were able to serve MORE THAN 10,000 scoops of Kemps Moose Tracks in under four hours for a total of 13,000 scoops. This is the first of over 40 cities to ever exceed 10,000 scoops!

Because Moose Tracks ice cream lovers helped us eat so many scoops, we turned the event into the 13,000 Scoop Challenge and donated $13,000 to the Salvation Army of Minneapolis! We’re feeling like some celebratory ice cream is in order!

We couldn’t have exceeded our goal without our volunteers and celebrity scoopers like emcee Ned Specktor, Meatsauce from KFAN, Kat Perkins of The Voice and Jackie Cain and Paul Folger from KSTP! A big thanks to all for donating their time (and muscles) to our cause!

This seemingly impossible goal was met and exceeded by the Moose Tracks lovers of Minneapolis. They deserve a big shout out for helping us go beyond our goal for the 42nd leg of our 10,000 Scoops Challenge Tour. Thank you, Minneapolis!

While we wait anxiously for the next time we can all enjoy delicious ice cream together, check out these awesome photos from Minneapolis below!

10,000 Scoops of Free Ice Cream = $10,000 for The Salvation Army of Charleston

We’re ice cream people, so math isn’t exactly our forte, but 10,000 scoops of free ice cream and 10,000 dollars for The Salvation Army of Charleston sounds like a pretty great equation to us.

The Moose Tracks team just wrapped up the first leg of our 10,000 Scoop Challenge Tour in Charleston.

If you’re not familiar with our 10,000 Scoop Challenge, check out our blog to learn all about how 10,000 scoops of free Moose Tracks Ice Cream = $10,000 for The Salvation Army.

Yesterday, we met lots of our greatest Moose Tracks fans in Charleston. We served up 10,000 scoops of Mayfield Creamery Moose Tracks Ice Cream and raised $10,000 for The Salvation Army of Charleston!

It was 95+ degrees and sunny out, and we couldn’t ask for better conditions to eat ice cream. Besides enjoying the delicious Moose Tracks Ice Cream, attendees played games, got to know Tracks the Moose mascot and took TONS of photos. There were so many great shots to choose from, but we’ve narrowed it down to our top 10 favorites below.

Tracks and team are on their way to the next stop on our tour: Savannah, Georgia. Will we see you there, Moose Tracks Nation?

Reflecting on Another Successful 10,000 Scoop Challenge Season

March 6, 2018

As 2018 begins, the Moose Tracks team is busy preparing for another year of 10,000 Scoop Challenge events. Where will we head this year? The list is top secret for now; don’t worry – we’ll let you in on it in a few months!

What is the 10,000 Scoop Challenge?

It started as a crazy idea and has turned into the highlight of our summer. We identify certain cities each year and within those cities, we work with local Salvation Army chapters and our dairy partners across the country to bring communities a free Moose Tracks ice cream social! The goal is to give away 10,000 scoops of Moose Tracks ice cream. For every scoop we give away, we donate $1 to the local Salvation Army, with a goal of raising $10,000 for local programs. It’s a great opportunity for us to give back, both with a donation to the Salvation Army, and with a fun event and free ice cream for the community.

Let’s Look Back at the 2017 Season

We visited Pittsburgh, Detroit, Dallas, Greensboro, Charlotte, and Kansas City – oh my! Each event was unique and awesome. Here are some highlights from each Challenge:

June 21, 2017 – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

We were fortunate enough to hold the first 10,00 Scoop Challenge of the season at PPG Place, a shimmering glass complex and a crown jewel of the Pittsburgh skyline. The event was a huge success; people of all ages came out to enjoy a scoop of free Kemps Moose Tracks Frozen Yogurt on a hot and beautiful day!

June 28, 2017 – Detroit, Michigan

We love Detroit! This was our third challenge in the D and we were blown away this time. Detroiters represented their city by showing us the largest crowd we have ever seen at a 10,000 Scoop Challenge. Dean’s Moose Tracks Ice Cream was proudly scooped at Campus Martius Park in the heart of downtown Detroit.

 July 11, 2017 – Dallas, Texas

This was our first venture deep in the great state of Texas, and it was extra special for us because our beloved owners brought out their trusty scoops to serve the city of Dallas (pictured below).  The Mayfield Creamery Moose Tracks was flowin’ at Pegasus Plaza on this hot summer day!

July 24, 2017 – Greensboro, North Carolina

LeBauer Park was the perfect location for our event to cool off the city of Greensboro on a Monday! The Salvation Army of Greensboro was particularly enthusiastic and truly provided an army of volunteers. It’s a good thing, because Greensboro was ready for some free Mayfield Creamery Moose Tracks! Check out that long line of ice cream fanatics!

July 26, 2017 – Charlotte, North Carolina

Trade & Tryon proved to be the perfect place for a 10,000 Scoop Challenge. The city of Charlotte came out in full force! The highlight of our morning was an interview that Wilson conducted with Scottie Mayfield (of Mayfield Creamery fame!) and Major Broome from the Salvation Army. Watch it here for some laughs.

August 8, 2017 – Kansas City, Missouri

The Power & Light District was SO cool, and so were the participants in our 10,000 Scoop Challenge: Kansas City Edition. We set up in the heart of the Power & Light District and scooped up Hiland Moose Tracks for 4 glorious hours.
