Everyone can agree that there’s nothing better than enjoying a delicious, cold ice cream cone on a hot day. For 30 years, Moose Tracks has kept the nation happy by bringing exceptional, decadent ice cream flavors to fans across the country. Moose Tracks is ice cream perfection, which took a lot of work (and a lot of taste testing ), and to honor this delicious treat, here are some fun facts about ice cream:

1. The first scoop of Moose Tracks was served in 1988, combining Famous Moose Tracks Fudge with peanut butter cups in vanilla ice cream.

2. The first known ice cream recipe dates back to 1665.

3. Original Moose Tracks, the flavor that started it all, is made with vanilla ice cream, however, chocolate ice cream was invented long before vanilla. In fact, vanilla was hard to come by!

4. The waffle cone was invented by accident! At the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, an ice cream vendor ran out of dishes, and reached out to the vendor next door, who was selling waffle-like pastries. Together, they created the popular ice cream companion, the waffle cone.

5. Moose Tracks is readily available across the US and Canada, but that was not always the case! Ice cream was considered rare and exotic until the late 1800s, and only the elite and upper-class were able to afford the imported ingredients and cold storage.

Ice cream has come a long way since the 1600s and Moose Tracks has come a long way in the last 30 years!

We know you don’t need another excuse to eat Moose Tracks, but we have a few reasons why you should allow yourself to indulge. In July of 1988, the first scoop of Moose Tracks was tasted and the rest is history! The name “Moose Tracks” came from a mini golf course in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which was right down the street from the first ice cream shop to carry Original Moose Tracks. Since that time, Moose Tracks has grown faster than we could have imagined. 30 years later, over 30 million cartons of Moose Tracks are sold every year. As Moose Tracks reaches this milestone, we are reflecting on our history and thanking our loyal fans. How we’re celebrating

To celebrate 30 years of Moose Tracks, we unveiled a brand-new Moose Tracks Mascot for use at out 10,000 Scoops Challenge events. “Tracks the Moose” has already been used at several events, and let’s just say…. Tracks has been a huge hit :)

Okay, maybe we got a little overzealous there. While it doesn’t do any of those things…*drumroll please*…. the product locator DOES help you find Moose Tracks in your favorite brands and retailers across the United States!

A quick history lesson…

The Moose Tracks Product Locator has been many years in the making. We license Moose Tracks to our manufacturing and retail partners who produce and package it under their brands at their discretion. Because of the many avenues Moose Tracks takes to make it to your grocery store, it was a bit of a challenge to build a product locator database.  However, Moose Tracks fans continued to email us requesting a list of Moose Tracks brands and retailers wherever they traveled (we get it; we plan our vacations around the availability of Moose Tracks, too), so we decided to tackle the challenge.

The result…

Now, it’s easy to find all of the available brands and flavors of Moose Tracks across the country!

Wondering how it works? We categorized the database four ways: brand, retailer, favorite flavor, and product type.

• The brand refers to the brand of ice cream that you see on the shelf. It might be the “store brand” offered by your favorite grocery store, or it may be a regional brand that is popular in your area. Perhaps your grocery store carries both!
• The retailer refers to the grocery store, drug store, or convenience store that you shop at.
• The favorite flavor refers to the flavors of Moose Tracks and our other classic ice cream flavors that you know and love
• Lastly, the product type covers the different types of ice cream, such as frozen yogurt, light or low-fat ice cream, as well as snack mix, cheesecake, and ice cream cones.
